Schedule:
1st Day:
We leave San Carlos de Bariloche in the direction of Esquel at 08:00h, in two four wheel drive vehicles. A few kilometres before Esquel we will take the road to Gualjaina and from there to Piedra Parada. Along the way we will have made a number of stops to take our first photographs and to enjoy a mid-morning snack. At each stop you can ask any questions you want, so that you constantly receive our support. We will stop at Gualjaina for approximately 1.5 hours to check in and eat lunch at the Mirador Huancache Hostel, where we will spend the night. We will then continue to Piedra Parada, where totally unexpected landscapes will appear before us. Upon arrival at Piedra Parada we will be able to appreciate the real dimension of the rock formation that gives this place its name. We will take a few photographs before continuing on to a series of small canyons, each different from the one before. Stone blocks, stepped, rounded, straight, small, tall, deep canyons all with marvellous textures, are but a few of the sights that will demand that our memory cards have plenty of free space. Depending on the interest shown, we will cover as many of these canyons as possible. At night we will dine by the banks of the Chubut River and take nocturnal photographs which can capture the earth’s rotation using the stars.
At approximately 23:00h we will return to our hostel.
2nd Day:
The following morning we will project the photographs taken by participants and the group can share points of view and thus enrich everybody’s experience. At 12:00h we return by a different and extraordinarily beautiful road until we reach the falls of El Saltillo, some 70m high. Finally, we will return to Bariloche where we estimate our arrival time to be around 20:00h.
You do not need to be a professional or have very good equipment to enjoy this outing, although we do recommend a basic grounding in photography.
Suggested equipment:
Sleeping bag and thermal mat, flashlight, swimsuit, warm clothes in natural colours if possible to blend in with the environment (greens and browns), trousers (not cotton to avoid burrs), good trekking shoes.
Photography:
Camera, flash, tripod, polarising filter, laptop and cable to download photographs, remote or shutter release cable, fully charged batteries and if possible a fully charged spare set. Memory cards.
