Challuaco Valley

Tour: Challuaco Valley

We leave Bariloche early (between 08:00 and 09:00h depending on the time of year).  The trip lasts 45 minutes, with half the distance covered on a paved road and the remainder on a gravel road. We travel through a valley before arriving at Neumeyer refuge hut in the middle of a high deciduous beech forest (Nothofagus pumilio). This refuge hut is the central point where all the walks begin, 9 in total. We will follow some of these wooded paths where we have a chance of seeing typical birds from the area, such as the Magellanic woodpecker, white-throated treerunner, thorn-tailed rayadito and ochre-flanked tapaculo. Continuing our walk we will arrive in more open areas with views of valleys where it may be possible to see some birds of prey such as: the white-throated hawk, red-backed hawk and Andean condor on their way to the cordillera.
We offer two options:

Half-day tour:  Approximately 5 hours which can be done either in the morning or the afternoon.

Included: Transport from the hotel, a snack, bilingual guide with binoculars and spotting scope.
